Small Groups

smallgroups-3AA - St. Philip's provides meeting space for our local AA group who meets on Thursday evenings at 8:00 PM in the Parish Hall.  For more information call 910-794-1840.

Bridge Group - Love to play bridge?  This fun small group is for you!  The group gathers the first and third Wednesday of each month at Noon in the Parish Hall. The lowest and two highest scores get prizes!  Brown bag lunch at Noon and hostess provides a dessert or a snack.  Usually, they have three to four tables of players (12-16) who come with or without partners.  It is a friendly game--they welcome players of all levels of expertise.  For more information contact Yvonne Moody at 910-454-9051.

Daughter's of the King - The Daughter's of the King is a religious order of women who undertake a personal rule of life incorporating a rule of prayer and a rule of service.  Each member pledges herself to a lifelong program of prayer, service, and personal evangelism.  Our chapter meets monthly at St. Philip's in the Parish Hall.  How can you get involved???  We currently have 46 members.  We welcome new members; interested women should contact any Daughter of the King.  We are easily recognized by our unusual silver cross we wear.  For more information contact our President , Jane Mitchell at 910-338-0330,, or Vice President, Tricia Hill at 910-253-1472,, or our secretary, Priscilla Wheeler at 910-253-6408

Historical Committee - St. Philip's Historical Committee documents St. Philip's history by analyzing records, correspondence and other documents relating to the parish - and by interacting with outside information sources and interested parties.  Our mission is to document and preserve the history of St. Philip's, and serve as a historical resource to our parish and larger community.  For more information contact Chuck Pollock at .

Knit Group - We are an informal group who hand knit.  Many of us make prayer shawls, which are presented with love and prayer for people who have special concerns or who are celebrating a special event.  You do not need to know how to knit to join this group; we will teach you.  Join us on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Parish Hall.  For more information contact the Parish Office at 910-457-5643. 

Men of St. Philip's - We provide a space for fellowship among men of the church.  We get together and socialize, and raise funds for church programs through activities like our lobster, pancake, and hot dog sales.  We also host a buffet style breakfast for all members of the parish on the first Sunday of each month.  We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at about 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall (Chapel of the Cross) rear entrance. Prayer Shawl Ministers - This is a ministry of loving prayer and comfort.  Members knit cozy shawls for recipients, known or unknown, praying for them during the process.  Some gather to knit together or some work independently.  For more information phone the Parish Office at 910-457-5643. 

Property - With help from the Sexton, the Junior Warden maintains oversight of the church property.  Our mission is to maintain the church buildings and grounds, including the Chapel of the Cross, St. Philip's Church, and Carr-Jorgensen.  

Supper Clubs - Supper Club groups are eight to ten people who meet once a month at a restaurant or in each other's homes for a meal and relaxed conversation.  Groups are formed annually through a sign-up sheet placed in our church newsletter or bulletin.   

Women of St. Philip's - St. Philip's Women's Group welcomes all Episcopal Church women to join their group.  They gather at four luncheons per year, a Christmas party, and through fund-raising and other special events and workshops.  The Women's Group raises funds to support church programs and community outreach, including bake sales, and a Fall Bazaar.  Their mission is to foster a closer sense of community in general, and to promote fellowship and involvement among the women of St. Philip's Church.  For more information contact the Parish Office 910-457-5643.  For a copy of the Women's Group By Laws click Here.
